Chicago Blackhawks 22-year old forward may be odd one off of offensive heavy roster this upcoming season
A Chicago Blackhawks 22-year-old forward could be the odd one out of the lineup in the upcoming season due to the team's depth.
For the first time in years, it could be a bit harder to make the Chicago Blackhawks roster at the next training camp. The organization added many talented players to the team over the past few seasons, and they could be coming to the NHL soon, raising the training camp's compete level.
As we saw at the end of the season, for the first time since the rebuild started in Chicago, the team is starting to get better, with many great players signing their entry-level contracts in the final weeks of the season. The team played with much more energy, indicating the Blackhawks could be among the organizations to watch next year for potentially having a breakout season.
Due to all that new depth, a player who was drafted by the Hawks in 2020 could be forced to give up his lineup spot.
Last season, Slaggert scored six points in 33 games with the Blackhawks in a limited role on the bottom six.
With the team likely looking to bring in several free agents this summer, Slaggert could be the one to pay the price and return to the AHL for opening night.
Kyle Davidson and the Blackhawks' next coach will have tough decisions to make with all the talented prospects joining the team next season. Fans are eager to see what will be done at the Draft, on the trade market, and during free agency by the organization to have the best possible roster ahead of next year.
