Chicago Bears defensive back Steve "Mongo" McMichael passed away at the age of 67 after battling ALS.
McMichael's storied career was set in stone when he was a part of the 1985 Bears team that won Super Bowl XX, making him a star throughout the nation.
He was known on the field for his ferocious and passionate play, which earned him the love of fans of Bears fans. The love for him continues to this day, as his legacy lives on in the '85 Bears history.
He'd later be diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease, known as ALS, and would continue to valiantly fight against what ailed him. His strength of will is a testament to his play on the field, but off the field as well.
He utilized his diagnosis to bring support and awareness for those suffering from the disease, not only himself. A true warrior to the end.
It was revealed on April 24, 2021, that he had been battling the condition and nearly four years later succumbed to the disease.
