The Blackhawks hired Jeff Blashill last week, which got a mixed reaction from the fanbase. However, that mixed reaction is slowly turning into a nod of approval, as Blashill nearly aced his opening press conference and interview with CHGO sports.

The two standout things were culture and the process.
You can't have a winning team without having a good culture and some accountability. Blashill said in an interview with CHGO sports that it doesn't matter who you are- if you make a dumb 50/50 play or just do something that wasn't needed, you're going to sit a shift or two.
Nick Foligno even piggybacked off of what Blashill said and mentioned that you need people who are excited and actually want to be here. They're trying to build something, and as a captain, he has to be a role model.
This new mindset is the correct approach. There's no learning and no winning that is going to happen without establishing a good system. The winning culture will come after that, and they're all linked.
Secondly, Jeff has his heart set on not rushing the process. He's not stupid; he knows the talent the Blackhawks have in the system and the young talent already up on the NHL roster.
After being asked about a timeframe the Hawks are aiming for to be competitive again, Jeff pretty much said, without actually saying it, don't expect much from them this year. We could be on the tank train one more time for Gavin McKenna. And he maybe even shut down all of our dreams of getting a big fish this free agency.
Blashill and Davidson kept on saying that they aren't going to rush things- would getting someone like Marner, Ehlers, Boeser, Bennet, etc, be considered rushing the process?
Blashill knows how to talk to the press, but can he back it up with his coaching?
