Top prospect, Frank Nazar, signed his NHL Entry Level contract yesterday coming right out of Michigan University. Michigan lost in the Frozen Four, so Davidson made the decision to give him his contract, effective immediately. We then found out this afternoon that Nazar would play in his first NHL game today, as Richardson slotted him in with Jason Dickinson and Joey Anderson.
But first came the rookie lap. The NHL made the rule a few years back that any player coming into the NHL after the 2019-20 season is required to wear a helmet during warmups. If not, it'll result in the fine of $2,500.
You only get this moment once in your career, and Frank went out without a bucket.
A fine of $2,500 will come his way sooner rather than later. The Blackhawks may have told him to go out without it, and that they'll handle the fine.
