That took place just after a face off at centre ice when Bedard was going for the puck and he took a hit from Nygard that sent him flying into the boards. The play continued and there was no penalty on the play.
Some fans were wondering if Bedard would have bulked up during the summer as his size has been in question ever since the Blackhawks drafted him two years ago. Many times, last year, Bedard had struggled in the faceoff circle as other centermen it around the league found it less difficult to challenge Bedard during faceoffs.
But that's only one facet of the game and Bedard currently stands quite close to 5 foot 10 and has incredible speed and a skill set that many players would love to have. He clearly shows that he can adjust his game especially when he meets bigger opponents and it's quite likely this year he will dominate around the net and put up more points than last year.
The Blackhawks also have augmented their team as general manager Kyle Davidson has gone out and spent millions of dollars in reinforcements in all facets of the game. Players like Tyler Bertuzzi, Teuvo Teravainen, Alec Martinez and Laurent Brossoit to name a few while receiving great news that Taylor Hall will be back and who had great chemistry with Bedard.
No matter his size, Bedard will become one of the elite players in this league and likely the next face of the NHL as his game will continue to evolve around the current players and the players that are up and coming over the next several years.
