Whispers of Jonathan Toews' return to the NHL become louder and louder as NHL pundits and insiders offer their viewpoints on the latest situation with the former Blackhawks captain.

Matthias Brunt of BPM Sports offered us some insight into where the Montreal Canadiens could shift their priorities if they fail to sign a big fish in July.

Brunet has been a fierce advocate for the Winnipeg native to join the Habs and help push the team into legitimate contention.

He's been so bold, as to lobby GM Kent Hughes, and the Habs Jeff Gorton to make an offer to the three-time Stanley Cup champion.

Of course, Hughes and Toews would have to agree on the terms, which would end up being a one-year deal we speculate.

Therefore, it could end up being a "prove it" deal like they've done beforehand, with centers like Sean Monahan who still had enough left in the tank to make the team competitive.

Toews would have a significant amount of experience to offer the Habs, as a former Captain, three-time Stanley Cup champion, and Selke-Trophy winner.
