Anders Sorensen's fate with the Chicago Blackhawks organization has been confirmed
Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks are gearing up for a clean slate in the 2025-26 NHL season which is set to kick off in October, in just five months time.
This clean slate includes a
new head coach and a new look in the roster, with multiple players expected to depart from Chicago this off-season, whether that may be in free agency or via trade by GM Kyle Davidson.
Despite the Blackhawks being quite a ways away from being prominent NHL contenders, this clean slate should spark a fresh start to the season, if it's done properly that is.
It appears that the Blackhawks may not be tearing it all down, and that they will indeed be bringing back head coach Anders Sorensen, but in a different role this time.
Sorensen was once the head coach of the Rockford IceHogs and played a key part in the development of the Blackhawks' current youth, where in the NHL he won't be able to do so.
«Word out of Chicago is the Blackhawks have found their new Head Coach (all signs point to Jeff Blashill, we shall see). An announcement is expected later today or Thursday, and will include additional coaching staff changes. Sounds like Sorensen will stay with the club in some capacity,»
Despite this controversial move, that may pull away from benefits of the organizations youth, the team is clearly in win now mode and does not mind sacrificing some development if it will benefit their NHL club.
«I'm hearing Anders Sorensen will remain on the NHL coaching staff as an assistant; Blashill will also bring in two other new assistants to join a new staff in Chicago,» Tab Bamford from Bleacher Nation stated.
