In a recent column, Florida Panthers GM Bill Zito was asked by Chicago Blackhawks eporter Scott Powers of The Athletic his honest thoughts on the team's recent hiring of 51-year old head coach Jeff Blashill, and he dropped a major piece of news that could see Patrick Kane returning to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Patrick Kane revealed his plan moving forward just a few weeks ago when the Detroit Red Wings had their season-ending press conferences, and he still remains uncertain.
Despite the Red Wings openly revealing that they would welcome his return to their organization next seaosn, it's all in the hands of 'showtime' as he is now a free agent forward on the open market.
Still having family and property in Chicago, and recent comments from Panthers GM Bill Zito revealed insight into a potential Blackhawks reunion for Kane.
Zito revealed that the Blackhawks' newest head coach, Jeff Blashill, has a great relationship with Patrick Kane that dates back to many years ago to the World Championships with Team USA.
«I interacted with him at the World Championships, and he had a way of getting Pat Kane, Quinn Hughes, Anders Lee, all these different style of players and personalities and reach each of them and pull the most out of each of them,» Zito said. «Very, very outstanding technically. Patient. His teams will be prepared, and they'll feel prepared and they'll be encouraged. As a manager interacting with him, (he's) very confident but (has) no ego. To work as a team is a dream come true.»
With one of Kane's favorite coaches now in Chicago with the Blackhawks, and a free agency decision looming, time will only tell if showtime will return to his old stomping grounds.
