The hockey world is in mourning after the tragic news this past weekend that a 19 year-old defenceman named Braydin of the Metro Jets of the United States Hockey League passed away this weekend.

The young defenceman has been making a name for himself in the League over his 3 season's until Cancer took him a away far to soon. The Metro Jets made the announcement telling everyone that Lewis passed away with his family by his side.

"After his diagnosis last summer, he was determined to return for his third season," wrote the Jets on Sunday. "Not only did he return, but played while undergoing treatment. Lewey's strength and willingness was an inspiration to the team and he showed up to support his teammates at every opportunity."

This hit home to my family as my wife lost her mother to cancer back in November. So we know what the Lewis family is going through.

On behalf of Hawks Insider our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Lewis family during their dark time.
