The Ottawa Senators are taking Alex DeBrincat to arbitration

The Ottawa Senators have recently concluded a noteworthy sale of their organization, which has captured the attention of many.

Michael Andlauer is now the new owner, and it has been announced that Alex DeBrincat will be the next player to depart from the team as they continue their rebuilding efforts, which according to Pierre Dorion, have come to an end.

REPORT: The Ottawa Senators are expected to file for club-elected salary arbitration with RFA forward Alex DeBrincat, per Bruce Garrioch.

The player does not want to re-sign with the club long-term, so a potential one-year award at up to 15% less than his $9M QO is an avenue the #Sens are leaving open if he is not dealt in the coming weeks. #GoSensGo

Before the Senators can recover from the loss of their 40-goal scorer, they must first offer a $9 million qualifying offer to retain his rights.

Since the deal will have less term, it will be reduced by 15% from the original qualifying offer to make it more appealing to DeBrincat.

Will have more on this later but the Senators will elect to take winger Alex DeBrincat to arbitration at Thursday's 5 p.m. deadline. He doesn't want to sign here, the club can get a 15% discount on his $9 million contract if successful so it makes sense. #Sens

If DeBrincat were to end up on another team, that team would need enough cap space to accommodate him. Some possibilities could be Anaheim or Detroit.
