Tons of controversy has risen throughout the past month in the National Hockey League, and it all started when Philadelphia Flyers defensemen Ivan Provorov refused to take part in his teams warmups, due to the team wearing ''pride'' coloured jerseys to support the LGTBQ+ community.

This caused a lot of havoc, just about every big-named hockey analyst commented on this situation and it was not in Provorov's favour, some even stated they were ''disgusted'' with his decisions, which everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but some crossed the line when they stated Provorov should pack up his bags, head home to Russia and get involved with what they are dealing with right now (A.K.A war).. which crossed the line totally.
Since, NHL players and organizations have released statements being against Provorov, but one organization canceled their pride themed night after the Ivan Provorov controversy. The New York Rangers, who announced to fans that pride night will be taken place but they canceled it as a whole.
This has lead to the Chicago Blackhawks, who are set to host their pride themed night this week, to release a statement on that matter.
Both Wirtz and Faulkner stressed that the Blackhawks' outreach goes beyond just one Pride night.

Wirtz: "Hopefully not only the intentions, but the outcomes of these nights really do get felt over time and we can build on that."
