Richardson draws a comparison between Kane and Bedard.

Luke Richardson, the current head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks, boasts a storied reputation as a former NHL star defenseman who enjoyed a 21-season career while playing for five NHL teams.

As a dedicated student of the game, he decided to transition to coaching, honing his craft during stints with the Ottawa Senators organization, the Montreal Canadiens, and the New York Islanders in various assistant coaching roles. He also served as the head coach of the then Binghamton, now Belleville Senators.

Now, as the bench boss of the Hawks, Richardson has had the privilege of coaching former Blackhawks stalwarts like Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. Furthermore, he now has the opportunity to lead the new additions to the Blackhawks, spearheaded by Connor Bedard.

During a media scrum, Richardson initiated a comparison between the emerging phenom, Bedard, and Patrick Kane. He delved into how both players approach the game and perceive it differently.



As the general manager, Kyle Davidson continues to construct the team and explore ways to expedite the rebuilding process with Richardson at the helm, I anticipate this team becoming a playoff contender within the next three to five seasons.

Of course, there is much work to be done, as the team remains far from completion and is currently undergoing major renovations.

The Blackhawks will host the St. Louis Blues in a preseason game at home, with the game scheduled to kick off at 8:30 PM.
