Playing on the biggest stage is far from foreign territory for rising young hockey players, as they try to show their stuff in front of NHL scouts.

That was exactly the case for Ryan Ellis, who starred on the Canadian WJC blueline, aiding in the play, which ultimately led to Eberle's brilliant game-tying goal against the Russians.

Ellis, a Predators draft selection is know for his time on the Nashville blueline, as one of the organizations top-four rearguards during his time there.

Unfortunately for Ellis, his career away from the Predators, now in Philadelphia, has been more of a struggle than success, as the player has struggled to play significant time, due to injury.

Recently news about the injury has been revealed and it certainly seems as though some details were held back, as the diagnosis seems more dire than initially reported.

«I've had several conversations with Ryan Ellis as far as how he's doing,» said Flyers coach John Tortorella. «That's been an up and down process for him. He's doing everything he possibly can to get ready for camp, I'm doubtful that's going to happen.»

Certainly signs for optimism are all but gone out the window for Ellis, due to a torn psoa muslce, which has caused all of the hip issues for the NHL veteran. The area is also unable to be operated on.

After all is said an done, Ellis will be remember for his longevity and effectiveness, which allowed him to be a coaches dream.

Well wishes are extended to Ellis and his family and teammates.
