JJ Watt, a prominent NFL player known for his strength and versatility on the field, has recently revealed that he chose to pursue a career in football over hockey because of the cost associated with playing the latter.

Growing up in Wisconsin, Watt was a talented athlete who excelled in both football and hockey. However, as he got older and the costs of playing hockey continued to rise, he ultimately decided to focus on football.

In an interview with ESPN, Watt explained that his family simply couldn't afford to keep up with the costs of playing hockey, which included expensive equipment and travel expenses for tournaments. Meanwhile, football offered a more affordable option for his family, with minimal equipment costs and a strong community support system.

Despite the financial challenges of pursuing hockey, Watt has remained a fan of the sport and even played in a charity hockey game in 2019. However, he has never regretted his decision to pursue football and has become one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL.

Watt's story is a reminder of the financial barriers that many young athletes face when trying to pursue their dreams. While talent and dedication are important, access to resources and support can also play a significant role in an athlete's success.
