One aspect of his game that has been noted as a drawback is his size and strength. While many believe that this should not be a significant factor, given that his skill set will ultimately surpass his physical limitations, it is becoming evident in the recent games that being outmuscled and consistently losing at the faceoff circle is a challenge for him.
In a game against the Nashville Predators, Bedard was attempting to gain possession of the puck in the offensive zone by maneuvering around Nashville defenseman Jeremy Lauzon. However, Lauzon effectively blocked him, preventing Bedard from obtaining the puck, which led to his frustration, causing him to fall to the ice.
As he skated away from the play, Bedard expressed his frustration by taking it out on the boards
Many, including Bedard himself, felt that this should have been called interference, but it was not. Regardless, it is apparent that there is room for improvement in Bedard's physical strength.
This development is expected to occur naturally as he matures, and with the assistance of gym sessions and strength coaches, Bedard is poised to become the complete package.
