BREAKING - Popular NHL Veterans Career May Be Over After Doctors Release Statement

The most worriesome news of the player updates provided by the Columbus Blue Jackets relates to Jakub Voracek. After suffering a concussion last month, the 33-year old veteran forward is sidelined indefinitely and has not received a medical clearance to return to hockey as a whole. 

The following was announced by the Columbus Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen:

''Jake has had a number of head injuries during his career, and after the most recent was advised by doctors to take some time off to see if his ongoing symptoms subside to the point that will allow him to come back and play. We don't expect a resolution in the near future and will give Jake as much time as he needs as his long-term health is the most important factor here.''

As a hockey fan as a whole, this is tough news to hear, you hear a lot about players suffering with head injuries a long-while after retiring, but we are glad the Blue Jackets and Jake Voracek are taking the precautions seriously, which may result in retirement as they state ''he likely will not be returning in the near-future''- but which is the right decision, as health over hockey any day of the week.


The Blue Jackets also announced defensemen Jake Bean will be out for four to six months as he underwent surgery, and Zach Werenski is officially out for the rest of the season and has had successful surgery on his ruptured labrum.
