BREAKING: ESPN To Offer New NHL Broadcast

Ever since ESPN bought the NHL's streaming and media rights after the NBC deal expired, the broadcasts have left much to be desired by fans all over the world. The streams through the ESPN app and ESPN+ always seem to come with audio or visual issues and still have blackouts in some areas.

Many fans around the world have voiced their displeasure on social media and it seems that ESPN is going to take a page out of the NFL's book and try something different.



The NFL has had great success with airing a yearly game on the Nickelodeon network, which allowed them to reach a new demographic. In the Saints vs. Bears wild card game from 2021, Nickelodeon averaged 2.06 million viewers, which was its most-watched program in nearly 4 years.


I think this would be a great opportunity for the NHL to pursue this concept because it would allow for more kids to watch the game, which may turn into more active viewers in the future. ESPN has dropped the ball on the streaming side of things, so having a game or two per season on the Disney channel sure couldn't hurt.
